Ramon Penzo

Ramon Penzo was born in Curacao on the 15th of august 1945. His first instrument was a trumpet which he started playing at the age of 15 at the music school “Hoogstraat Otrobanda”, after three years of learning to play the trumpet he stopped playing and went on to the drumset. He bought his own drum set and started to teach himself how to play the drumset.

The first group that Ramon Penzo played for was “The Surveyors”. The group consisted of Anthony Minguel, Tonchi, the brother of Mafalda and the manager. Later on Ramon entered another group called “Salsbach Jazz Trio”. They had a lot of concerts, giving concerts in Aruba, Boneiru, St. Maarten, Carifesta in Jamaica. After the “Salsbach Jazz Trio” he entered the “El Toro Colina” show where they performed every night at the holiday beach.
